Allen & Delancey is the latest new comer to the Lower East Side but please do not confuse the joint for a neighborhood restaurant. The windowless rooms and candlelit tables offer a very intimate setting in this seeming hip spot and a thick red velvet curtain permeates the two dining rooms. The menu screams upscale, haute cuisine and not L.E.S chic gastronomy. Chef Neil Ferguson labored for many years as the second in command under Uber Chef Gordon Ramsay. His tenure under the Hell's Kitchen personality infused classic English and French cuisine into his repertoire and he works feverishly to convey this refined Brutishness into his dishes. Of course tables are hard to come by any hour of the day but the restaurant is open until 2:00 AM should you want one of the finest meals around after leaving a nearby lounge.
