TableXchange.com is a user-to-user marketplace for buying and selling restaurant reservations in real-time. This guide provides methods for effectively pricing your reservations to ensure you maximize their sale value. These suggestions are meant as a guideline; the user is not obligated to follow the policy set forth.

Here is a list of helpful tips:

  • Understand the market: TableXchange continually updates and maintains a database of restaurants which are consistently in high demand. Yet even within our database restaurants range widely in popularity. A reservation that must be secured within the first few days it becomes available is typically more valuable than a reservation you can secure two weeks in advance.
  • Know the audience: Not all restaurant reservations are equal. The 9:00 PM seating at one restaurant may be prime while a 7:30 PM reservation elsewhere might be ideal. It depends largely on the crowd the restaurant draws. Sellers should price their reservations accordingly. Generally, trendier restaurants tend to cater to bigger groups at later seating times whereas more formal dining often caters towards couples and smaller parties at slightly earlier times.
  • Scarcity of supply: Typically parties of four people are of greater value than parties of two because the cost of the reservation is split amongst more people. For example, a $40 reservation for a party of four will cost only $10 a person whereas the same reservation will cost $20 per person for a party of two.
  • Be aware of the competition: Track other reservations posted on TableXchange.com regularly. If similar reservations are posted within a short time, typically both of the reservations become slightly less valuable.
  • Do not out price the market: Pricing a reservation at the maximum capped amount ($40) is not always a worthwhile endeavor. TableXchange maintains a marketplace for supply to meet demand and market forces will generally dictate that overpriced reservations will not sell.
  • Know the chef: Celebrity chefs are immensely popular and draw large crowds. Is the reservation you are posting for a restaurant where the chef routinely performs on The Food Network? Is the reservation for the hottest new restaurant in the city? Both of these variables may play a large part into the value of the reservation.

Finally, familiarize yourself with our pricing policy. We currently set a range for all reservations at $15 -$40. Prices can be increased in 5 dollar increments to the seller’s desired price. If the reservation is not selling you can log into TableXchange at any time and alter your requested price. Good luck, and thanks for selling on TableXchange!
